A DCS Investigator performs professional investigative work for cases of alleged child abuse and neglect. The Investigator works in conjunction with Child Protection Investigative Teams to make determinations on cases involving severe abuse allegations.

Responsibilities:
1. Conducts interviews with multiple individuals to obtain information relevant to the allegations; documents information pertaining to the investigation.
2. Identifies and gathers pertinent information an evidence to assess validity of allegations.
3. Prepares for and attends court proceedings related to case investigations.
4. Develops and maintains key relationships with community partners, including law enforcement, mental health and medical providers.
5. Understands and informs families of their rights during investigations.
6. Works with team to collectively determine if allegations of abuse/neglect are substantiated.
7. Develops plans for families to address needs and promote permanency.
8. Available to work flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, on-call, etc.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience - Education equivalent to graduation from a college or university with a bachelor’s
degree.
Education and Experience Substitution – Military, Law Enforcement, or other professional investigative experience may be substituted.
Necessary Special Qualifications:
1. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age on the date of application.
2. Be a citizen of the United States.
3. Possess a valid driver’s license prior to and during employment.
4. Have a good moral character, as determined by investigation.
5. Complete a criminal history disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority.
6. Have no conviction for a felony.
7. Agree to release all records involving their criminal history to the appointment authority.
8. Supply a fingerprint sample in a manner prescribed by the TBI for a fingerprint based criminal history records check.
