Chapter Text
"You know," Yn started, leaning back against the couch, "I think this is the first time you've invited me somewhere without it being a work thing."
Sun, sprawled across the other end of the couch, flashed them a bright grin. "That's because this isn't work," he said simply. "It's a friends' outing."
Yn raised a questioning brow. "So, I'm not going to find myself running errands for you suddenly?"
"Only if you offer," Sun teased, nudging them with his foot. "But as your boss, you're not allowed to call us Master or Lord. "
It had been two weeks since Yn learned the truth about the Solstice family. Two weeks of adjusting to the realization that the people they had been working for weren't just an eccentric bunch of celebrities but actual supernatural beings. Vampires, shapeshifters, werecreatures—each of them something out of a myth. And at the Manor, Yn's bosses...were Sun, Moon, and Eclipse, celestial vampires with an almost effortless way of making the supernatural seem... normal.
Despite everything, not much had changed in their daily lives. Sure, Yn was now hyper-aware of things they had previously brushed off—how sharp their fangs could get, how quiet Moon was when he moved, how Eclipse's mere presence could make a room feel heavier. But their routines? Those stayed the same.
Well, except for today!
"We should get going! I'm so excited!" Sun said, stretching lazily. "You two ready?"
"I'm ready, but we need to wait for Clipse," Moon's soft and quiet voice echoed in the living room. "You know we don't leave without him."
Yn frowned. "Wait, really?"
"Of course," Sun said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "He's the only one with the wallet."
Yn blinked. "You don't have your own money?"
"Oh, we do," Sun admitted. "We make money from my blogs and Moon's singing lessons." Yn felt like a “but” somewhere was coming into the sentence.
"But," There it was from Moon. "If we had free rein, we'd probably buy half the store."
Yn stared at the two vampires before them. "I'm going to regret asking this, how rich are you guys? Are you rich? Or are you rich rich?"
"How deep is the Mariana trench?" Moon asked out of the blue. Yn stared, confused at Moon's strange question.
"Uuh...deep?"
Sun giggled behind his hand. "It is approximately 36,037 feet deep, starting from the Challenger deep."
"...Okay?"
"Clipse's wallet is deeper than that," Moon leans on Yn. "Enough to buy a small country and still have leftovers."
Yn blinked. Once. Twice. Their brain is fully short-circuited. "…I—what?" They turned to Moon, expecting some kind of denial, maybe even a scoff. But Moon stared back, completely unbothered, as if he hadn't just casually claimed Eclipse could buy a country and still have pocket change.
"That's—" Yn pressed their fingers to their temples, trying to process. "That's not a normal amount of rich!! That's cartoon villain rich! That's ' we could build our own secret moon base' rich."
Sun hummed thoughtfully. "A moon base would be a fun investment."
"No! No! Nope! Nopity-Nope Nope!" Yn pointed at him, exasperated. "You don't get to entertain that idea right now."
Moon just smirked, still leaning against them. "Wanna see the bank account?"
Yn's soul left their body. Then, something clicked. They glanced between the two vampires, suspicion creeping in. "...This is a supervised shopping trip, right?"
Sun didn't even try to deny it. He flashed another easy grin just as Eclipse finally stepped into the room, his expression unreadable.
"Shall we?" Eclipse said, already moving toward the door. When Eclipse opened his mouth, Sun latched onto the bigger man's arms.
Yn thought they'd take Eclipse's car, and the Lord of the Manor would drive. How silly the thought! Of course, Eclipse asked his damn limo driver to drive! Why would Eclipse take his own car? At this point, the citizens of this town should be used to seeing a limo driving through their area. After all, Sun, Moon, and Eclipse were the town's celebrities. Though, how did they end up here anyway? Why this small town? But, more importantly...
How long did they live in this town?
The town of Everbrook is a hidden gem, nestled between towering mountains and dense forests. It’s not a city, but it’s not a quiet rural town thriving just enough to keep life interesting. Nature surrounds it, with rivers, lakes, and endless trails drawing in tourists looking for adventure. Events, outdoor sports, and a few big attractions keep the economy steady, but not enough to put the town on a brochure titled, "Come to Everbrook!"
Despite its size, the town has everything it needs—schools, a well-equipped hospital, and a giant mall serving as a social hub. Hotels stand tall but never overshadow the scenery. Local businesses give Everbrook its personality: Bonnie’s bowling alley, Chica’s beloved pizzeria, Roxy’s bustling mechanic shop, Foxy’s tattoo parlor, and DJ’s electrifying nightclub are the few that Yn knew by heart by now. Even the gym sees its fair share of action. And, of course, there's the Manor—a silent reminder of the town’s wealthiest and most mysterious residents.
The limo pulled up in front of the large, bustling mall, minding those who crossed the roads to get to the entrance. The driver stepped out from his side, moved to the end, and opened the door for his Masters. Sun was the first to step out of the limo, excited and happy every time. He turns back and pulls Yn out quickly to their feet.
"We're here! Oh, this will be so much fun! Let's get some snacks or maybe some giant lollipops? I heard there's a new cotton candy that is as big as my head!"
"Ma--Sun...!" Yn fixed their clothes after Sun released his death grip on their wrist. "One thing at a time, okay?"
Eclipse is the next to step out of the limo, placing his hand on his Lunar husband, who is still inside the vehicle. Moon opened his parasol first outside the limo, then, with Eclipse's help, pulled himself under his umbrella. Yn couldn't help but wonder why Moon had to use a parasol until Lilith's voice echoed at the back of their head. Master Moon is sensitive to the light but gets hurt and uncomfortable when exposed. Please be careful.
"Clipsey, I want to go to the sweet shop," Sun hugged Eclipse's body. "Pretty please with lotsa sprinkles with?" The solar vampire slowly reached for Eclipse's pants pockets. "I've been a very good boy--!"
Eclipse's secondary arms grabbed Sun's hand before he could reach his wallet. "Sunlight, do not touch my wallet...but we will later."
Moon wrapped his arm around Eclipse's, his face hidden from the crowd, and his voice suddenly stopped working. "Moon, are you okay?" Yn asked. "You're...quiet."
"Moon does not speak in public, and Yn, I have rules regarding shopping," Eclipse stepped into the mall entrance area while Sun pulled Yn along. "Do not buy anything Sun tries to persuade you to buy."
"What."
Sun hummed innocently. "I'd never do such a thing! Hehe! C'mon! I want to shop!"
"Are there...more rules?" Again, Sun tugged on Yn's hand to get them to move.
"No, that was it." Eclipse followed Sun and Yn. "Do not give into his brattiness and begging eyes..."
Moon covered his mouth with his hand. "Clipse can never resist..." he whispered so quietly that Yn didn't catch what he said.
As they moved through the mall, Yn couldn't help but notice the murmurs that followed them. Soft whispers, excited giggles, and even a few not-so-subtle stares. At first, they thought it was curiosity—Everbrook wasn’t exactly a city, and new faces always caught attention. But then they started listening.
“I swear, Eclipse could walk into a room and own it without saying a word,” one woman gushed near a jewelry kiosk in the aisle. “He’s got that whole mysterious, powerful aura. And those eyes? God, if he looked at me for more than five seconds, I think I’d pass out.”
“Oh, please,” her friend snorted. “As if he even notices anyone but his husbands. Have you seen the way he looks at them?”
“I mean, have you seen them?” another voice chimed in from a nearby café. “Sundown and Moonfall are so handsome and cute.”
“They’re practically royalty here,” someone else added. “Like, we don’t have a king of Everbrook, but if we did? It’d be them .”
Yn blinked, suddenly hyper-aware of who they had been spending time with. They knew the trio had money, power, and an undeniable presence. But hearing it from other people? Seeing how the town adored them? It hit differently.
Yn exhaled, shaking their head. “Wow,” they muttered to themselves. “I really am hanging out with Everbrook’s celebrities .”
Sun was in his element, darting from one store to the next with a gleeful energy. He practically glowed as he held up a ruffled silk blouse, eyes wide with excitement. “Eclipse would love this on me,” he mused, draping it over his arm without hesitation. The moment he spotted a pair of pearl-studded sunglasses, he gasped dramatically. “Oh, I need these.”
Yn raised a brow. “You sure?”
Sun turned, already pushing them onto his face. “Yes, yes, yes! Yn, these are perfection . Eclipse won’t be able to say no.”
Sun had gathered a small mountain of items near the clothing section in his arms. He beamed at Yn as if they were part of his scheme. “Okay, listen. Eclipse is definitely going to let me get all of this.”
Yn crossed their arms. “You sound pretty sure of that.”
Sun’s grin faltered. “Well… if he loves me, he will.”
Yn snorted. “That’s your plan?”
“Uh, yeah? Look at me.” Sun held up an orange blouse with star patterns on it. “I deserve these.”
Just as he said his final words, Eclipse reached over and, like a cat, pulled Sun from the back of his shirt and into his arms. "No."
"Awww! Please, Clipsey! I thought you loved meeeee~!" Sun looked to Eclipse, his eyes wide and begging to let him buy these things.
Eclipse remained stoic. "No."
"Damn it."
On the other hand, Moon was a silent shadow beside Eclipse and his stark contrast to Sun’s lively enthusiasm. They remained near their lively husband and friend. Luckily, Eclipse had four arms, perfect for any shopping trip! Moon latched himself to Eclipse's left secondary arm while Eclipse held most of Sun's purchases in bags in the others.
Speaking of Moon...he had barely spoken since they entered the mall, his stoic demeanor making him nearly unreadable. But the moment something caught his eye, he moved—wordlessly stepping out of the current store.
"Ma--Moon? Wait for me!" Yn followed the vampire from the chaotic fashion store towards a...plushie...store?
They watched as Moon stopped before a shelf lined with plushies. Bats, moths, and other nocturnal creatures, all in various shades of deep blues and blacks. His gloved fingers brushed over a particular plush—a small, navy-colored bat with embroidered silver stars on its wings.
Yn tilted their head. “You like it?”
Moon didn’t answer but picked up the plush, his touch careful, almost like the plush was made out of porcelain. That's a yes.
Yn laughed as Moon shifted beside them. He glanced at the opposite side of the store, expression unreadable, before turning and walking. He didn’t speak, but his movement was deliberate—he had seen something else that caught his interest.
Yn hesitated for a second before following. "Moon, I don't think we should move away from Eclipse and Sun, right?" No answer. "W-wait, Master Moon...!"
Sun was too busy lamenting his shopping limit to notice right away. "Okay, maybe just the blouse. And the sunglasses. And —wait, where’d Moonie and Yn go?”
Eclipse turned around to look. His husband and friend were nowhere to be found. Yn and Moon had already wandered further away, slipping into another part of the mall.
"Moon, I really think we shouldn't walk far from Eclipse and Sun," Yn reached and grabbed Moon's wrist. "Let's go back, okay? Eclipse will freak out...I think..? It's hard to tell."
"...Yeah...I guess you're right." Moon gently touched the plushie again. "I want to ask to buy this."
"We'll come back with them, kay?" Yn smiled. Hand in hand, Yn and Moon walked away from the plush section. Being with celebrities was quite peaceful! Or so Yn thought.
The peacefulness shattered in an instant. It started with a single camera snap—sharp, invasive. Then another. And another. The distant hum of the crowd warped into a frenzy as paparazzi swarmed, their voices overlapping in an overwhelming blur.
“Moonfall! Over here!”
“Who’s your friend?”
“Are you cheating on your husbands?”
“Is this your new partner?”
Yn barely had time to react before the flashing began. Bright, relentless bursts of white light exploded rapidly, searing the air with every click.
Moon’s entire body locked up. His grip on Yn’s arm turned vice-like. His pupils shrank to near-invisible slits. Then—he recoiled violently, staggering back with a sharp, gasping breath.
"Moon?" Yn’s voice barely reached him over the chaos.
The flashes didn’t stop. Each one hit like a direct blow, disorienting, painful. Moon tried to lift a hand to shield his eyes, but it was too late—his vision blurred, spots of white and color streaking across his sight. His head pounded. His breath hitched as his knees buckled.
Yn panicked. “Hey! Back off!” They stepped forward, throwing an arm up to block the nearest camera. “Give him some damn space—”
Moon let out a quiet, pained sound—almost a whimper. His fingers clawed at Yn’s sleeve, his whole body trembling. His breath was too fast, too shallow.
“Moon? Moon, talk to me—”
A sudden warmth enveloped the pained Lunar Vampire. Sun was there instantly, wrapping his arms around his husband, shielding him from the flashing lights. “Breathe, Moonie…” Sun whispered, his voice filled with quiet urgency. “I’ve got you. You’re okay.”
Moon pressed his face against Sun’s shoulder, his entire body shuddering. He could still see the afterimages, the harsh streaks of white that refused to fade. His head throbbed. He felt sick.
“ Enough .”
The word cut through the chaos like a knife. A shadow stretched across the scene, heavy and suffocating. Yn turned—and froze.
Eclipse remained on the outskirts of the crowd, his red eyes glowing with a deep intensity. Typically, Eclipse's gaze featured three crimson rings set against his black sclera, cutting through the shadows. However, at this moment, his entire eye sockets were filled with shifting, swirling red rings. The force of his presence felt heavy, saturating the air with an authoritative weight. Everything came to a standstill.
Even the paparazzi hesitated, their frenzied snapping slowing as they saw him. Some faltered, shifting uneasily under his stare.
And then—his voice.
Smooth. Absolute.
“ Forget your assignments, delete your data, and return home..."
There was no room for argument. No room for anything. A strange, weird stillness fell over the crowd. The reporters blinked—once, twice—as if something had been wiped clean in their minds. Their grips loosened on their cameras. Confusion flickered across their faces. Then, as if their purpose had never existed in the first place, they turned and walked away. No hesitation. No resistance.
Yn watched, stunned. "The fuck...?"
The mall returned to normal within seconds, as if nothing had happened. Eclipse exhaled through his nose, his sharp gaze lingering on the last retreating figure before shifting to his husbands. Sun held Moon close, whispering comforts, rubbing soothing circles against his back. Moon’s breathing steadied, but his eyes remained tightly shut, and his fingers curled into Sun’s coat.
Eclipse was by their side in an instant. He cupped Moon’s face, tilting his chin up slightly. “Look at me, Moth.”
Moon hesitated, his eyelids fluttering weakly before he cracked them open just a fraction. A sharp, pained hiss escaped through his teeth as another violent wave of nausea rolled through him.
Eclipse frowned. “Freddy’s hospital. Now.”
Moon groaned. “Eclipse, I just need—”
Yn interrupted, crossing their arms. “You just got flashbanged into next week, Moon. You’re going.”
Sun kissed Moon’s temple gently. “Let’s get you checked, Moonie.”
Eclipse didn’t wait for further argument. He reached down, scooping Moon into his arms effortlessly. Moon barely resisted, his body going limp against Eclipse’s chest.
Yn lingered for a moment, their mind still stuck on what had just happened. Their gaze flickered to Eclipse. “That thing you just did…” Eclipse’s crimson eyes met theirs, unreadable.
Yn swallowed. “…We’ll talk about that later.”
The moment they stepped into the hospital, the atmosphere shifted. Freddy’s medical team didn’t need to be told twice. They knew the rules—if a member of the Solstice family was injured, they moved.
A nurse quickly directed them to a private room while another rushed to inform Freddy. Eclipse strode through the halls without stopping, his arms still cradling Moon, his expression unreadable.
Sun refused to let go of Moon’s hand, his thumb brushing gently over his knuckles. “You’re okay, love,” he murmured softly, his voice a quiet anchor. “Freddy will fix you up in no time.”
Yn walked beside them, stealing glances at Moon’s face. He looked… pale. More than usual. His brows were furrowed slightly, his breathing slow and controlled, but the tension in his body hadn’t eased.
By the time they reached the room, Freddy was already inside, sleeves rolled up, clipboard in hand. When he saw Moon, his expression softened into something patient and warm.
“Set him down here,” Freddy gestured to the bed, already moving to check over him.
Eclipse placed Moon down carefully, stepping back just enough to let Freddy work but staying close. Sun didn’t let go of his husband’s hand. Freddy worked quickly, his touch practiced and gentle as he checked Moon’s pupils, reactions, and breathing. He murmured questions, his voice steady and soothing, and Moon, despite the discomfort, answered in quiet, clipped responses.
“Photophobia’s worse than I remember,” Freddy finally muttered, scribbling something on his clipboard. He glanced at Sun and Eclipse.
“He’s going to need full dark for a while. No bright lights, no strain on his vision. I’ll prescribe something to help with the headaches.”
Sun nodded, already prepared to accommodate. “Of course.”
Freddy turned his attention to Moon, his tone softer. “You’ll be okay, but you need rest. No pushing yourself.”
Moon exhaled, tired but grateful. “Got it.”
Yn, who had been silent, finally spoke up. “Is this normal for him?”
Freddy glanced at them. “To an extent. He’s always had sensitivity, but this?” He gestured vaguely, his brows furrowing. “That was too much. He’s lucky it didn’t trigger something worse.”
Yn shifted uncomfortably, guilt creeping in. They hadn’t known.
Eclipse’s voice cut through their thoughts. “It won’t happen again.”
Freddy met his gaze, understanding the weight behind those words. For now, Moon was safe. Freddy pulled out a few medical supplies to cover Moon's eyes and secure them with gauze. "Do not remove this unless he needs to shower, then re-wrap it."
Sun hugged Freddy's body. "Thank you. What would we do without you, Freddy!"
"Anything for my family," Freddy pats his head softly. "Ah, next week is your health check; please remember."
Health checks? Huh. Yn rubbed their arm, standing in the back to give the family their moment. The scene of Eclipse's red eyes glaring at the paparazzi played in their mind like a video on a loop. What was that all about..?
The ride home was quiet, save for the soft purr of the engine and the occasional rustle of fabric as Moon shifted against Sun. His head rested on his husband's shoulder, arms loosely wrapped around Sun’s waist. Freddy had done what he could—cooling drops, pain relief, and a dark wrap securely covering Moon’s eyes—but the damage had been done. Moon wasn’t his usual composed self; he was drained, silent, and completely tucked into Sun’s warmth.
Sun, for once, wasn’t talkative. Instead, he kept his arms around Moon, occasionally pressing a whisper-soft kiss to his temple. He traced soothing patterns along Moon’s back, his touch delicate, careful. The usual bratty energy was gone, replaced by something much gentler.
"When we get home, we can take a nice nap..." Sun whispered to Moonie. "We'll close all the curtains, we can nap in your room..."
"I'd like that, thank you." Moon kissed Sun's cheek. "You'll be my eyes, right?"
"Mhm."
Yn sat in front of the snuggly duo, their mind replaying the scene repeatedly. The way Eclipse had commanded the paparazzi, the weight of his voice, the eerie stillness that followed. There had been no shouting, no pushing back. The reporters had simply obeyed like puppets on strings.
“…What was that all about?” Yn muttered under their breath, unsure if they were asking Eclipse directly.
Eclipse’s red eyes flicked toward them briefly, then back to looking out the window. One of his four hands had held onto Moon's beside him. His expression didn’t change. “You’ve seen a glimpse of why they call us monsters, ” he said, his tone measured. “Are you scared?”
Yn hesitated. Was fear the right word? Not exactly. It was curiosity gnawed at them. They glanced back at Sun and Moon—one comforting, the other recovering—before turning toward Eclipse again. "I..."
"We're home," Eclipse opens the door before the driver can leave his car. "Sun, rest with Moon; I need to make some calls...and then I'll join you."
"Don't be late; Moonie is hurt," Sun jabbed his finger into Eclipse's chest. "Spend time with us."
"I will, my Doll." Eclipse kisses Sun's forehead. "Yn, you want to say something, don't you?" He looked at the employee. "What is it?"
“…Can you teach me?”
Eclipse’s brow arched slightly. “Teach you?”
“The abilities you have. What you can do.” Yn adjusted where they stood. “I doubt I can actually do them, but I want to understand.”
A beat of silence stretched between them. Then, Eclipse let out a low hum of amusement. “After dinner,” he said simply. "You have dinner duty, right? Please tend to it."
Yn immediately straightened their posture. "Y-Yes, Lord Eclipse," They bowed their heads. "I'll send Lilith to call you three when it's ready."
Eclipse left in silence, leaving Yn to stay in their bowing position until they heard the door click closed, alone outside in front of the Manor. "Huh...can't believe I just asked that."
Later that evening, the four of them sat in the living room, the remnants of dinner lingering in the air. Moon remained on the couch, his wrap still snug around his eyes, while Sun curled beside him. Eclipse stood near the fireplace, his posture as effortlessly composed as ever.
“You wished to understand our abilities,” Eclipse began, his voice carrying that natural weight of authority. “Then listen carefully.”
He raised a hand, fingers curling slightly. “My abilities are the most… disruptive,” he admitted. “I can control people’s minds through hypnosis—though it requires eye contact and the right conditions. I can also detect intent. Lies, fear, deception.” His crimson gaze flickered toward Yn, sharp but not unkind. “It is why I rarely need to ask twice.”
Yn shivered slightly at the thought, but Eclipse continued. “I also possess enhanced strength and speed—nothing flashy, but effective.”
Sun smirked. “He means he could break a car in half if he wanted to.”
Eclipse merely shrugged.
Then Sun stretched, grinning. “As for me, I’m not as scary as Clipsey,” he teased. “I can heal minor wounds—not enough to fix something serious, but I can at least help with pain and injuries.” He wiggled his fingers. “I can also regulate my body’s warmth, which is great for cuddles. And my sense of smell is pretty damn good.”
Yn raised a brow. “How good?”
“I can smell if someone’s lying,” Sun said smugly.
Yn blinked. “Wait. Really?”
Eclipse exhaled through his nose, clearly unimpressed. “No. He just likes to pretend he can.”
Sun pouted dramatically. “I could if I tried.”
Moon finally spoke, his voice quieter but just as deliberate. “I have hypnosis, too,” he murmured. “But mine isn’t for control. It’s for sleep.”
Yn tilted their head. “Like, you can… make people fall asleep?”
Moon nodded. “Through my voice.” He shifted slightly, fingers grazing his throat. “I sing, sure, but I need to put intent to make someone fall asleep."
There was something melancholic in his tone. Sun reached over and squeezed his hand. “Moonie can also help with nightmares; it’s like he knows when we have nightmares, and he can calm us down with his voice.”
Just like that night, he easily brought me out of my nightmare with his voice… Yn absorbed it all, their mind racing with the implications. “…And people call you monsters for this?” they finally asked.
Eclipse’s lips curled into something that wasn’t quite a smile. “People fear what they do not understand.”
Yn glanced between them, then leaned back against the couch with a sigh. “Well, they’re stupid! Seriously! So, you guys have some hypnosis, strength, and healing powers, so what? You guys aren’t doing bad stuffs with it.”
“That’s pretty cool, especially the hypnosis!” Yn watched videos on the internet about people hypnotized and didn’t think much about it. They believed it was fake and all part of the gimmick. But, after seeing it first-hand right in front of them? Maybe magic did exist! “Does that mean everyone in your family has superpowers?”
Sun hummed, and an entertaining smile appeared on his face. “Well, it’s not really superpowers, but more like magic? Whatever we have.”
“You should ask Bonnie about his; you’ll have a kick out of it,” Moon commented.
“What about Bonnie? Does he have magic, too?! That bastard never—well, it makes sense he didn’t tell me…”
Moon and Sun laughed, their joyous laughter echoing in the living room. Ah, that’s the laugh that Yn loved to hear. “Bonnie has Fae Magic, like his brothers and dad.”
“He has brothers, and he didn’t tell me either!! Who are they? Can you tell me?!” With Bonnie suddenly being secretive about his family, Yn was dying to know the details! Sun and Moon covered their mouths, a smirk hiding behind their hands. It looks like Yn won’t receive any answers yet. “Oh, come on!!”
"That is a conversation between you and Bonnie," Eclipse walked toward his husbands, caressing Moon's cheeks and giving him a small kiss on his lips. "It's time for bed." The larger vampire picked up Sun and Moon with no sweat.
Yn stood up as well. "I should head to bed too; I'll need to drive to campus for classes..." They bowed their heads to their masters and Lord. "Goodnight, Masters, Lord Eclipse."
"Goodnight, Yn, we'll see you in the morning!" Sun, even at night, was as chipper as in the day. How can a man like him have so much energy?
Yn kept their head bowed while the vampire trio left the room. Immediately after, Yn pulled their phone out of their pocket and started to text Bonnie. Their fingers flew on the phone's screen.
TELL ME ABOUT YOUR BROTHERS OR NO CARROT CAKE FOR A DAMN YEAR, FLUFFYBUNS!!
A few moments later, while Yn flopped on their comfy bed, their phones dinged a message.
UGH, FINE!
Welp, that was easy. Guess there's no need for Yn Holmes!
