Tornado touches down in Mississippi (2025)

Meteorologist

It was *** loud night with booming thunder, several severe thunderstorm warnings, and we even had two tornado warnings, one in *** County and then *** confirmed tornado warning in Marion County. I actually got *** TDS signature out of it and *** lot of times when we get that, it could indicate *** strong tornado, meaning an EF-2 or higher, something that the National Weather Service will be going down there to survey probably later today if not tomorrow, we'll get an official survey. Report on that. So for us, we are looking at improving conditions for the rest of the day. Clouds should start to break apart by the afternoon. So sunshine does return for this afternoon. Temperatures will vary though. The Delta looking at highs this afternoon, upper 60s to low 70s. The metro mid 70s looking likely and down towards Pike Wall. Paul Jefferson Davis County could get as warm as the low 80s. So outside around 7 o'clock, it is *** windy morning and we still have. Lingering showers and even *** couple of storms, 67 degrees right now around 7 o'clock. We have the cooler air back off into the delta, low 60s from Belzona to Vicksburg 64 and Hazlehurst. These temperatures will keep dropping through around 9 o'clock and then they start to go up. So again, highs will vary between where you live, low 70s in Bellona, low 80s and Bassfield and McComb. It could be *** pretty cool night on our hands for places north of the metro, talking about 40s from Carthage up towards spells. 50s down to Pike and Walthall County, but everyone gets into the upper 70s and low 80s tomorrow afternoon. We have *** lot to talk about from Wednesday through the early parts of next week. Pretty much 3 stories in one. The first one we're talking about temperatures. We have *** high pressure that's going to build *** pretty significant ridging pattern for the deep South, and temperatures could turn near record breaking for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Top 3, if not top 5, warmest looking very likely. Friday we could be tying the 20. 3 record. On top of that, we are watching *** boundary that is going to stall towards Tennessee and Arkansas that will eventually affect us going into the weekend, bringing the chance for rain and storms. And then the third story is *** Part B with that temperatures drop. Notice we go from the upper 80s Thursday to the mid 80s Saturday, falling to the 70s by Sunday and previewing the first full week of April. We could be trending cooler than average, talking about 40s in the morning, 50s and 60s in the afternoon.
